Struggle with low c curve? Try swapping with ball Struggle with low c curve? Try swapping with ball crunches for these reasons:
⬛️ How to set up: 
Place ball at base of spine. Hold the pelvis stable, as you engage your core and lower your torso (controlled extension) over ball and then lift torso upwards bringing ribcage (insertion point) towards pubic bone (origin of abdominal wall). 
⬛️ Tip: Range of motion will be personal to you. Going into extension is optional. You can hinge back in neutral and go into flexion (you decide degree!) at the top. 
Why we opt for ball crunches in our classes: 
◾️your torso is the lever for your abdominal wall, so the more you get it perpendicular to gravity, the more mechanical load you are adding to your abdominal wall- w/o even adding any weight, just using physics! 
◾️ it is much easier on the neck instead “low c curve” because of the angle relative to gravity so clients feel more successful and can actually focus on their core. 
This is why ball crunches are more challenging AND you don’t have to do as many reps to get to muscle failure. 👌🏼

3 swaps we made in our barre classes to make them 3 swaps we made in our barre classes to make them more effective:
⬛️ added more one-legged barre lunges vs. donkey kicks/all fours for glute work. The former is an example of an early phase loaded exercise vs. late phase loaded. A muscle is strongest (has its greatest strength potential) during the first third of its range of motion. Therefore, that is where a muscle “should” encounter the most resistance. Plus, it’s moving through its full range of motion. 
⬛️ added more skull crushers vs. tricep kickbacks. Not only are skull crushers an early phase loading exercise, but they use a dynamic muscle contraction (full range of motion) vs. isometric. 
⬛️ added more side-lying/side plank lateral deltoid raises. Not only is this more neck-friendly, but it’s also an early phase loaded exercise moving through its entire range of motion (elongation and shortening)
